Your questions answered.

Can I request adjustments to the size or length of a piece?

All my necklaces come with a choice of chain – 16”, 18” or 20”.  Other lengths are available, please just drop me an email at claire@clairehowardjewellery.com and we can discuss what length you would prefer.

My acorn and star anise necklaces are on long chains.  If you would prefer a shorter chain, please let me know although please note that the star anise pendant is a heavy one and works better on a long chain.

If you have a bangle which fits you and is larger or smaller than my petit, standard or large bangle sizes, please use the sizing guide on my website or measure the internal diameter of the bangle you know fits and let me know that measurement in cms.

Please note that all resizing does carry a small charge if the error is yours in sizing.  There is lots of advice about getting the right size in my Sizing Guide to help you or drop me an email.

Can I request a specific gemstone or metal for a custom piece?

If you like the Saltmarsh Skies coastal ring set for example, but would like to swap one of the gemstones, I am more than happy to do that.  It will make that piece of jewellery a commission and therefore the price will not be the same to take account of the new gemstone.  Please email me to discuss different choices of gemstones on claire@clairehowardjewellery.com

If you like the Russian Bangle for example but would like one of the bangles made in gold, then once again it will become a commission order and will need a separate quote.  Quotes will be sent to you via email and will be valid for 2 weeks from the date of the email from me.  After 2 weeks, a new quote will be required due to the fluctuation in the price of metals.

Do you offer gift wrapping or packaging services?

All my jewellery comes in white jewellery boxes with my gold logo, tied with ribbon.  A gift bag is available for all necklaces and bangles at no extra cost, however in the interests of sustainability, it must be selected at check out.  If you wish to purchase a gift bag for smaller pieces of jewellery, then please navigate to the Accessories page and select Gift Bag.

How long does it take to receive my order?

All orders will be sent between 5-7 days after receipt of payment.  Any delays will be discussed with you when you place your order.  Many orders will be sent within a shorter time frame than the 5-7 days.

If you are making a purchase as a gift for an upcoming birthday, please add the birthday to the website options on checkout and I will do all I can to get it to you by that date.  Obviously the more time I have the better!

What shipping methods do you offer?

All orders will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery - it is the only service which insures your jewellery and guarantees delivery.  The price currently (May 2024) is £8.50.  Some jewellery will be posted 1st Class Signed For (May 2024), the price is £6.00.

If you are local to Fakenham or in the area it will be possible for you to collect directly from me, or at one of my events, please select this option on checkout and I will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time.

What materials do you use in your jewellery?

All my silver jewellery is either sterling silver (92.5% silver) or fine silver (99.5% silver).  Where a piece of jewellery weighs over 7.78g, it is hallmarked as per the legal requirement.  I send my work to Birmingham Assay Office for hallmarking.  In each listing, it will tell you whether that piece of jewellery has been hallmarked.

I use either 9ct gold or filled gold.  Many of my small motifs, like the gold bees, birds and leaves are made with filled gold.  This process is where a thick layer of 24ct gold is bonded on to another metal, usually brass.  Filled gold is solderable, and will not rub off over time, nor tarnish unlike plated gold.

My Keum Boo range of jewellery uses 24ct gold leaf.

All my silver and gold is recycled and many of my pieces of jewellery are made with excess silver which I have melted and breathed new life in to.

Do you offer repairs for damaged jewellery?

I will complete repairs for piece of my handmade jewellery which have become damaged, but I don’t repair other jewellery.

Do you have a shop where I can see your jewellery in person?

I work from my lovely workroom in my house so I don’t have a bricks and mortar shop in Fakenham.  With prior agreement, you are welcome to come and look at my jewellery here in Fakenham, however it is often easier to visit a pop up shop or a fair at which I am exhibiting.  Please look at the Events tab of my website to see where I will be next.  Visiting a fair or pop up shop will enable you to see my jewellery displayed and also my stock levels will be at their best.

I stock a few local shops so if you are in the Cromer area, please visit Alby Crafts to see my jewellery in Gallery 10, if you are on the Norfolk Coast, the NNT centre at Cley stocks my work and if you are a little further afield near Lavenham, my work is in the beautiful Brett Gallery.

I advertise my next events on my social media pages (FB and IG @clairehowardjewellery) or if you sign up for my email newsletter, you will also get advance warning!
