How to size your wrist

Either measure the internal diameter of a bangle which you wear and is comfortable or, alternatively, tuck your thumb into your palm and wrap a measuring tape around your knuckles. This will give you the circumference measurement you need to size your wrist.

Necklace size guide

16" (Choker length)

Let's start with the choker length necklace - it's like a whisper of elegance around your neck, adding a touch of sophistication without being too flashy. All my necklaces are available in this length.

18" (Princess length)

Gracefully drapes just below the collarbone, offering a timeless and refined look that's suitable for any occasion. All my necklaces are available in this length.

20" (Matinee length)

The matinee length typically falls just above the bustline and is often used for more formal occasions or when you want to make a statement with your necklace. It's great for pairing with higher necklines. All my necklaces are available in this length.

30" (Opera length)

Long, luxurious, and oh-so glamorous. It makes a statement without saying a word, ideal for dark tops or dresses. Take a look at my Holkham Acorn necklace or my Star Anise necklace for this length.

We are absolutely thrilled to be running our next creative workshop at Barrack House, Great Massingham, Norfolk on Wednesday 9th October 2024- 9.30am - 4.30pm.

Join Sue Welfare and myself for a day of being creative! Hone your linocutting skills and use this opportunity to practise your printing, take your own print home with you and learn how to use silver to make yourself some lovely hoop earrings. Both workshops will be informal and relaxed with lots of advice, support and hands-on guidance, they are both suitable for beginners. Tea, coffee and homemade cake will be available during the day as well as lunch inside the wonderful pub next door to Barrack House.

You will do the lino cutting in the morning and jewellery making in the afternoon or vice versa.

During Sue's lino cutting session, you will be working in a single colour learning and developing a range of mark marking techniques and skills, to create light, shade, line and texture to explore our print ideas. Starting point ideas will be provided by Sue or you are welcome to bring some inspirational images with you.

During our jewellery making session, you will practice making some copper hoop earrings and then we will make 2 pairs using sterling silver wire. We will also use some copper to practise your stamping skills and then you could add some stamping to personalise one of your pairs of hoop earrings. Your earrings will have a really good polish so they will be ready to wear. All materials will be provided as well as lots of help and guidance to make the most beautiful earrings possible!

This is a special workshop with all of us working together so we are pleased to be able to offer it at a price of £125. All your specialist materials and food are included. You will need to wear old clothes or bring an apron/old shirt to wear as printmaking and jewellery making can get a little messy! Long hair needs to be tied back for soldering and closed toe shoes worn - hammers can be painful if dropped on open toes. A full refund is offered if you cancel a month prior to the workshop, and any later, a refund will be possible if your place is filled from a waiting list. There are only 12 places available so that each workshop session will have 6 people and you will get the best of help to complete your creative makes!

Care

Each piece of my jewellery is handmade in sterling or fine silver, filled gold, or 9ct gold, with some Keum Boo details or gemstones.

To keep your jewellery looking its best:

  • Avoid contact with perfume, lotion, and chemicals.
  • Remove before bathing, swimming, or exercising.
  • Clean gently with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth.
  • Store in a dry place, ideally in its box or pouch.
  • Silver may naturally tarnish over time—use a polishing cloth to restore its shine.

Shipping

Every order is carefully packed and sent with Royal Mail — First Class Signed For under £30, and Special Delivery for anything over. Local? You’re welcome to collect your jewellery from my Fakenham shop.

Terms and Conditions

By booking a workshop with Claire Howard Jewellery, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel your booking, please let me know as soon as possible.

Up to 1 month before the workshop: You can choose either a full refund (less a 10% admin fee) or transfer your booking to another available date.

Within 1 month of the workshop: Fees are non-refundable unless I’m able to re-sell your place. In that case, you’ll receive a full refund (less a 10% admin fee) or have the option to move to another date.

Bookings can be moved once only and must be confirmed by email.

If, for any reason, I need to cancel or postpone a workshop (for example, illness or unforeseen circumstances), you’ll be offered the choice of a full refund or a transfer to another date.

Please note that workshop places are limited and can’t be reserved without payment.

What’s Included

All workshops include the materials you’ll need to make your jewellery, plus refreshments (and a slice of cake from Peppy Neds, of course!).

Health & Safety

Health and safety advice is shared in advance via email and explained again at the start of the workshop. Please take care when using tools and especially torches and follow the guidance provided.

Photography

I love capturing the creative atmosphere of my workshops and often share photos on social media. I generally focus on hands at work rather than faces, but please just let me know on the day if you’d prefer not to be photographed.

Before Your Workshop

All the details you’ll need – including what to expect, arrival times, and what to bring (if anything) – will be sent to you by email before your workshop.
